Certified Childbirth Educator - International Childbirth Education Association

Empowerment through education is a huge passion for me and is the foundation of Kiwi Maternity Services. I decided to become a certified educator here in the US to be able to offer evidence based information to all families whether or not they are participating in midwifery care.

For now, I offer private in home classes only. Times and hours are negotiable to meet the needs of the family, but in order to cover all aspects of childbirth and parenting preparation, I suggest about 12 total hours of education and should be completed before the 36th week of pregnancy.

*This is not included as part of my midwifery package and therefore has additional service fees.

Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist - International Placenta & Postpartum Association

The evidence for the benefits of placenta consumption is largely anecdotal at present due to the limited number of quality human studies. However, many individuals who have ingested their placentas, in either pill or tincture form, reported increased milk supply, decreased postpartum bleeding, a decrease in the incidence of postpartum depression and/or an improvement in their overall sense of well-being.

To ensure safety and best practice, I completed, and adhere to, the Bloodborne Pathogens & Infection Control for Doulas, Midwives, & Placenta Encapsulators in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1090.1030. I am also certified as a ServSafe Food Handler, another requirement for certification as an encapsulator.

*This is not included as part of my midwifery package and therefore has additional service fees.

*This service is only available to persons under my midwifery care.

Bowen Therapist (Fascial Kinetics Practitioner)

This form of bodywork can assist with the physical recovery from birth as well as the ease some newborn ailments such as colic. This modality works by breaking up adhesions in, and realigning, the fibers in the superficial and deep connective tissues in the body. Every bodywork session is gentle, and the whole body is affected during treatment, no matter what the condition one seeks therapy for, because fascia is one continuous sheath. More information about Fascial Kinetics and Bowen Therapy can be found at https://www.fascialkinetics.com/what-is-bowen-therapy

*This is outside of the midwifery scope and therefore has additional service fees.
